Exhibition: “Wave Gothic Zeit 1994-2007” with photos by photographer Gerd Lehmann, LeipzigThe exhibition shows thousands of photographs, some of them unpublished, of people and bands from the black scene, most of which were taken at the WGT. Also on display are motifs from the period from 1969 onwards, when Gerd Lehmann was a respected fashion and advertising photographer in the GDR.

Exhibition: “Bestiary: Monsters and creatures – between myth and reality”Venue: Historischer Sächsischer Wartesaal (Historic Saxon Waiting Room; access via the cross platform)
This exhibition focuses on fantastic and endangered animals – real, extinct and imaginary creatures as well as strange figures from mythologies and urban legends. Bestiaries, animal poems that were widespread in the Middle Ages, combined scientific knowledge with mythical tales. These not only served to educate, but also provided inspiration and fascination for generations of readers.
The exhibition takes you into a mysterious world between reality and fantasy and shows a unique collection of creatures: from mythical beasts and forgotten animals to mythical creatures from regional lore.
By drawing lots, visitors have the chance to win one of the 140 works by 40 artists from Mexico, Latin America and the USA. The prints will be handed out at the exhibition on June 10. As a small gift from the Promenades, there will also be a specially designed T-shirt for this special WGT exhibition – while stocks last.

Film: “Shamanism – The Sixth Generation”Jasmin Bojahr's documentary provides unique and contemporary insights into ancestor worship, nature worship and the art of healing in Mongolian shamanism. Traditional connections to the environment, animals, plants and spirits are still alive there today. Shamans act as a bridge between past and present and combine the roles of spiritual authority, healer and counselor. The film takes a multi-layered look at shamanic healing and the deep connection of Mongolian shamans with nature and ancestors. (max. 140 people)

Taxidermy show: “A snowy owl awakens to new life”Experience at first hand how taxidermist Louisa Bosse breathes new life into a snowy owl through the art of taxidermy and gain exclusive insights into the entire process – from the scientific recording to the final design of the specimen. She will be supported by René Diebitz and Markus Ranft, who will be happy to answer any questions about the traditional methods of preserving animal carcasses, which combine science, craftsmanship and art.

Exhibition opening: “The house with the spider – taxidermy”The new exhibition shows very personal favorite objects from 100 years of museum work in the “House with the Spider” and provides an interactive insight into its collections and the work in the various departments.
Museum Director Prof. Dr. Ronny Maik Leder will open the exhibition with a welcoming address and report on the process of its creation. This will be followed by a rare opportunity to talk to zoological taxidermists and gain an insight into this rare craft.

A cemetery to stroll through, a park full of gravestones – the Old St. John's Cemetery in Leipzig is both. Many famous personalities are associated with it. The guided tour follows the footsteps of Johann Sebastian Bach, Richard Wagner's parents, Goethe's lover and the founder of the allotment garden movement (in German).

For WGT guests, Peter Kühne, in the role of Peter Schöffer, a historical companion of Johannes Gutenberg, will explain and demonstrate the basic elements of Gutenberg's invention. Visitors will be able to see the hand casting instrument, angle hook and typesetting ship in action. The outstanding progress of Gutenberg's printing with movable type becomes clear in the vivid comparison with the effort involved in block printing or even handwriting. A look into the past shows the effects of the pioneering inventions up to the high-speed press in the 19th century.

Reading: Christian von Aster “DIE SCHWARZE KUNST 3.0 – a reading of sinister ink spins” (in German)On the occasion of the Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Leipzig author Christian von Aster will be reading from his black humorous texts in the Humanities Reading Room of the German National Library. In order to delight the inclined dark mind, there will be a further excursion into equally cryptic and strange short stories between printer's ink and gloom. The stories in question are, of course, exquisitely darkly humorous.

The exhibition is dedicated to the mysterious, masked protagonists of the WGT, as portrayed by Pfefferkorn in his old-masterly, figurative paintings. With a keen sense for social nuances and visual disturbances, the artist stages the fascination and individuality of this subculture.

Exhibition: “Bestiary: Monsters and creatures – between myth and reality”Venue: Historischer Sächsischer Wartesaal (Historic Saxon Waiting Room; access via the cross platform)
This exhibition focuses on fantastic and endangered animals – real, extinct and imaginary creatures as well as strange figures from mythologies and urban legends. Bestiaries, animal poems that were widespread in the Middle Ages, combined scientific knowledge with mythical tales. These not only served to educate, but also provided inspiration and fascination for generations of readers.
The exhibition takes you into a mysterious world between reality and fantasy and shows a unique collection of creatures: from mythical beasts and forgotten animals to mythical creatures from regional lore.
By drawing lots, visitors have the chance to win one of the 140 works by 40 artists from Mexico, Latin America and the USA. The prints will be handed out at the exhibition on June 10. As a small gift from the Promenades, there will also be a specially designed T-shirt for this special WGT exhibition – while stocks last.
